MSH President’s message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In a blink of an eye, it is already end of year. I like to take this opportunity to share with everyone on the developments of the society since my last message.

Our Annual Scientific Meeting which was held in August 2022 has been a great success and we again like to record our deepest gratitude to Professor Dr S Fadilah and her team. The feedback has been nothing short of excellent. On that note, I would like to invite everyone to attend the upcoming annual scientific meeting in March 2023 which is going to be held in Malacca. This time, the focus is on malignant haematology with the theme of “Making sense of new therapies and technology”. Dr Guan Yong Khee and his team have worked extremely hard and prepared a very practical educational program. This will be a great time for all of us to meet and mingle with one another while learning; especially it has been a while since we have the chance to meet one another face to face.

In regards to one of my wishes to raise visibility of the society locally and in this region, we are excited to announce that MSH is collaborating with the Members of Malaysian Laboratory Haematology Society (MMLHS) and Asia Pacific Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (APSTH) to organize the “12th Congress of the Asian-Pacific Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis” with the theme of “Hemostasis and Thrombosis: Bench to Bedside”. This conference will be held in Kuching from 18 October to 21 October. The announcement will be uploaded onto the website very soon. Please take this opportunity to attend and exchange knowledge with the many international and local experts. I am also very excited to inform everyone that we have plans to join hands with other international associations such as EHA in
organizing learning events and we hope to be able to provide everyone good news soon.

Ongoing plans are being discussed on how we can promote more research and training opportunities, streamline and improve the current workflow, encourage more engagement with one another, be it on formal or informal platforms. At the same time, we are also working on improving our digital presence as well as data security. We should also be sending you survey forms soon in order for us to better offer you beneficial and relevant opportunities for professional development and networking.

Finally, I wish everyone an early Happy New Year and for those who are taking holidays, have a safe travel.

Thank you.
Professor Dr Gan Gin Gin
President,
Malaysian Society of Haematology
