The E-learning opportunities are provided by the Thalassaemia International Foundation (TIF).
TIF, thru its “TIF e-Academy”, offers electronic courses to both healthcare professionals and patients. The available courses have been developed and reviewed by renowned international area experts. Courses content is dynamic and continuously updated to comply with the latest developments and guidelines.
Specifically, TIF offers the following courses for Healthcare Professionals in the areas of Haemoglobinopathies:
1. eThal Ed: Prevention and Management of Thalassaemia.
a. This course: i. focuses on β-thalassaemia. The section on Prevention consists of 5 modules and the section on Management consists of 12 courses ii. has been updated and is fully compliant to the “Guidelines for the Management of Transfusion-Dependent Thalassaemia (4th edition, 2021)”. iii. is available in English, French and Arabic
b. One can opt to receive a certificate for each module or an overall certificate on Prevention and/or Management. Certification(s) can be obtained upon successfully answering each module’s set of questions.
2. SCD Course for HCP a. This course: i. covers all aspects of SCD clinical management. ii. has been endorsed by the European Hematology Association iii. consists of 4 sections:
1. Introduction (3 chapters) 2. Clinical Complications (16 chapters) 3. Treatment (5 chapters) 4. Organization and delivery (4 chapters) iv. Is available in English
b. Certification: Coming soon.
3. HPLC Screening in the Service of Prevention & Diagnosis (available March 2022)
a. This course will award a certificate
Anyone interested in signing up for any of the above courses can enroll themselves easily and for free by visiting the TIF e-Academy login page. An account can be created from “New Visitor” area located at the lower part of the page.
Enrolment is open throughout the year, and it is valid for 90 days for the health care professional courses. Please note that enrolment can be extended thru an email request to the team.
