Information Concerning the MSH Logo Competition for 2020/21

Dear MSH Members,

Invitation is open for submission for a new logo for the Malaysian Society of Haematology (MSH) in the form of a competition. The competition winner will receive a cash prize and the logo will be open for adoption during the next AGM in 2021. Details of the competition and the rules of competition is as follows;

  1. The competition

The MSH is looking to update the current MSH logo to both keep up with the time as well as to comply with certain Registry of Companies (ROS) regulations. Participants will submit logo to best represent the MSH to be used in official business and events in the future. The logo is to be submitted online between 16th November 2020 and 17th January 2021. With the submission, a brief explanation of the design and main ideas behind the logo is encouraged and should be less than 200 words.

  1. Who is eligible?

The competition is open to all MSH Members. There is no limit to the number of submissions made.

  1. How will be the winner be picked?

After the submission dateline is reached, all the submissions, including the ones submitted during the 2019 competition will be uploaded onto the MSH website where a system of online voting will be employed. The uploaded submissions will be anonymised and members will rank their three selections in order. The first pick will be assigned 3 points, the second 2 and the third 1 point. The submission with the highest number of points will be declared winner. Contestants are not allowed to vote, and the winner will be announced at least 2 weeks before the AGM. The following members are involved in organising this competition; Dr Haris Abdul Rahman (SJMC), Dr Abu Dzarr Abdullah (HUSM), Dr Gan Ee Leng (Hospital Seremban) and Dr Chew Teng Keat (Hospital Pulau Pinang). As the winner is picked by the Members, they are also eligible to participate.

  1. Prizes;

The first price winner will take home RM 1000, the second RM 750 and third RM 500. Should the prizewinner from the 2019 competition wins again, he/she is eligible again for the prize.

  1. What will happen to the winning design?

The winning logo will be presented for adoption during the next AGM. A motion for adoption will be tabled, and the Meeting will vote to either 1) to retain the adopt the new logo as presented; 2) maintain the old logo; or 3) modify the new logo prior to adoption. This will be done anonymously during the next AGM.

  1. When to submit?

The submissions will be between 16th November 2020 and 6 pm 17th January 2021.

  1. How to submit?

Submission is to be made online through this site. Please upload the design as well as a Microsoft Word file of your brief.

  1. Requirement for entry;

Entry is an image preferably jpg format, less than 2400 by 2400 pixels, and less than 2 MB in size. No signatures or personal signals allowed. It should preferably be less than 5 colours. The inclusion of the phrase “Malaysian Society of Haematology” is encouraged.

  1. Other Terms and Conditions;

The designs of the submitted logos must be unpublished and directly created for this competition. Upon adoption, the Society will acknowledge the author as the creator of the logo, but he/she is expected to hand over the ownership of the work to the Society for future use. He/she must certify that the submission does not infringe the rights of any third party and is not in violation of any copyright. By participating in the competition, participants accept the rules and agree to be bound by them.
