Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Greetings! I hope this message finds you in good spirit and health. In a blink of an eye, we are entering the second half of 2023, how time flies. I have intended to write earlier but the website was down due to some technical issues but it has since been rectified.
The next six months will be even busier as the society will be co-hosting several regional and international meetings. One of them is the “12th Congress of the Asian-Pacific Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis” which will be held in Kuching from 18 October to 21 October 2023. The speakers’ bureau comprises both renowned international and local experts. I would strongly encourage everyone to attend the congress and to submit abstracts. It would be a great time to enhance our knowledge, and at the same time visit Sarawak and savour their famous local delicacies.
TIF International Conference is another learning event that the society is collaborating with Thalassemia International Federation (TIF) and Federation of Malaysia Thalassaemia Societies and Malaysian Association of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology. Please spread the word around to your nurses, patients and their families.
Other international meetings which are on the horizon are the 28th annual meeting of APBMT which would be held in Semerang, Indonesia and coming up very soon is EHA-HOPE in New Delhi, India.
These are all great learning events, not to mention our regular teaching webinars. As Dr Seuss said: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” The society always encourages and promotes learning and will endeavor to help members to participate in any learning events. Hence, we have set aside some funding. Please go to the website and find out more.
Lastly, we should be sending the survey forms soon and please provide us your feedback and recommendations.
President,
Professor Dr Gan Gin Gin
