Haematology webapps

Dear all,

Last night Janssen had a Myeloma update in KL Hilton and the talk was by Prof Philppe Moreau (done via Skype for the first time!) preceded by interesting case presentations by Dr Leong Kin Wah, Dr. Lau Lee Gong and Dr. Goh Kim Yen (thanks for the great effort!)
I mentioned a myeloma web app which you can download to your smartphone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry) - so I thought I’d repeat the website here once again:

http://oncopda.com

The app will run in your phone’s browser but if you save it as a short cut on the home screen (iPhone and Android) it will run even without an internet connection.
This site is still in development so expect more web apps over the coming months.

7th IABS Symposium on Advances in Transfusion Safety 15-17 July 2011, Singapore

Comment first! »

Dear MSH members

BSG and the International Alliance for Biological Standardization (IABS) are organising the 7th IABS Symposium on Advances in Transfusion Safety in Singapore from 15-17 July 2011. The IABS symposium focuses on current issues in the areas of blood supply and transfusion safety, clinical transfusion as well as regulation and cell therapy. While we hope that participants will register for the full symposium, we are also opening the Sunday 17th July sessions (which are both clinical transfusion sessions) up as a day registration - this is so that non-transfusion medicine or blood bank related clinicians may attend this.

In addition to the IABS Symposium, HSA has also organised a tour of our blood bank at HSA, and then tours of two research facilities at the Biopolis - the Genome Institute of Singapore and the Nanotechnology Institute, followed by an afternoon symposium under its HSA Academy Series, on “Scientific Advances and Regulation in Blood and Cell Therapy” on 14th July. The HSA Academy Series symposium is jointly organised by the Health Products Regulatory Group and Blood Services Group, and aims to form a platform for dialogue between regulators and blood services; details of the afternoon symposium are found in the IABS website as well.

On the afternoon of the 17th July (as the IABS symposium ends at 1pm on Sunday 17th July), we are also organising a session for trainees from 2-5pm. This trainee session is intended for trainees in transfusuon medicine, haematology and other disciplines using a lot of blood/blood components. It is open to any trainee registered for the IABS symposium but limited to the first 25 applicants.

I am writing to ask you help in disseminating this email flyer and information to all your colleagues and trainees, as we hope that many of our Malaysian colleagues will join us for the meeting. As the early bird registration closes on 30th April 2011, we would encourage you and your staff to register before the end of April to enjoy the early registration benefit.

I also hope that you will take advantage of this event to come and visit us again in Singapore. All of us in BSG would be delighted to see you again !

The website for the meeting is at www.iabs-singapore.org!

Best regards,
Diana
