Haemoncrules updated!

Those of you who are using PDAs may be interested to know that I have at long last updated Haemoncrules. Version 2.3 now has 35 modules and the latest update has ET (WHO & PVSG) and PV (PVSG) diagnostic criteria.
The software is free and you can view more details and download it at the Haemoncrules Homepage or in Palmgear
The software runs on Palm PDAs. If you have a Windows mobile PDA, you can run it with Styletap. If you have an iPhone, you are out of luck ;)

The 2009 CSBMT meeting in HK is a joint venture of the HK Society of Hematology, Chinese Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and the HK Marrow Match Foundation. It is supported by the Taiwan Society of Hematology.

Announcement for Recruitment of Newly Diagnosed Mantle Cell Lymphoma patients into clinical trial at UMMC

UMMC is one of the clinical centres in Malaysia which are involved in a phase III clinical trial for Mantle cell lymphoma patients. We are looking to recruit newly diagnosed mantle cell lymphoma patients who are not eligible for stem cell transplantation. The patients will be randomised into 2 arms of treatment ; R-CHOP and R-Velcade-cyclophosphamide-doxorubicin-prednisolone.

Time for revised national guidelines for VTE prophylaxis?

FYI, the UK has just released a new system for Risk Assessment for Venous Thromboembolism. The Risk Assessment in PDF format can be downloaded here. It is a simple checklist which can be filled in and reviewed at the junior staff level and prompts one if VTE prophylaxis is indicate or if there are significant bleeding risks to preclude VTE prophylaxis.
